Cohere’s new Command R+ enterprise LLM beats GPT-4 Turbo

Cohere, a leading provider of enterprise-grade AI solutions, today announced the launch of Command R+, its most advanced and scalable large language model (LLM) designed specifically for real-world business applications. The new model builds upon the strengths of its predecessor, Command R, while offering enhanced performance, multilingual support and advanced retrieval augmented generation (RAG) capabilities.

Command R+ is optimized for enterprise use cases, providing best-in-class RAG with citation to reduce inaccuracies, multilingual coverage in 10 key business languages and a powerful Tool Use API for automating complex workflows. The model outperforms similar offerings in terms of RAG, multilingual capabilities and tool use, while maintaining Cohere’s commitment to data privacy and security.

“Command R+ is the most performant model at the key elements that enterprises really care about, in terms of RAG, multilingual capabilities, and tool use,” Kon emphasized. “The deployment cost, whether through cloud-managed or on-prem, enables companies to roll out at massive scale.”

On X, users noted that it beat OpenAI’s GPT-4 Turbo, as well as Anthropic’s new Claude 3 and Mistral Large on leading performance benchmarks.

Data privacy and security at the forefront

Cohere remains independent and cloud-agnostic, with Command R+ and its other search and retrieval models now available on Microsoft Azure. This enables enterprise customers to access cutting-edge AI capabilities within their preferred cloud environment.

“Data privacy and security is a core part of Cohere’s focus and differentiation,” Kon explained. “We bring our models to your data; we don’t ask you to bring your data to our models. That’s why we are available on every cloud, including now Azure, and deploy on-premises for those who want the utmost in data security.”

Proven success in production environments 

Cohere’s success in deploying its technology in production environments is evident through its partnerships with industry giants like Oracle. Last Thursday, Oracle announced that more than 200 AI-powered features, backed by Cohere’s LLMs, are now available in production on NetSuite and Fusion applications.

“We have Cohere capabilities in production inside some of the most valuable and sophisticated SaaS applications that are integrated into tens of thousands of enterprises around the world,” Kon proudly shared. “It’s exciting to see that those customers, as it rolls out from hundreds to thousands to tens of thousands of enterprises, are already using this technology in their everyday work to make their working lives better and more productive.”

Poised for continued growth

Cohere has reported impressive revenue growth of 60% in the first 10 weeks of 2024 alone, with much of the acceleration attributed to the anticipation surrounding the release of Command R and R+. The availability of Cohere’s models on Azure is expected to further unlock momentum and growth.

“The momentum we’re taking into the future is absolutely enormous,” Kon concluded.

According to a source familiar with company projections, Cohere expects revenue to reach into the hundreds of millions in 2024.
